Welcome to Heartland Bernese Mountain Dog Club

The Heartland Bernese Mountain Dog Club (HBMDC) is a regional organization encompassing Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas, proudly affiliated with the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America (BMDCA).

The HBMDC’s mission is to be a club rooted in preservation and education, dedicated to maintaining the exceptional qualities that define the Bernese Mountain Dog today. We strive toward that goal by:

  • Providing educational and mentorship resources for those interested in learning more about the breed.
  • Requiring members to sign a Code of Conduct outlining the responsibilities of ethical breeding and responsible ownership.
  • Hosting an annual draft test to celebrate and preserve the breed’s working heritage.
  • Offering learning opportunities and social events, including clinics and gatherings that bring our community together.
  • Supporting breed rescue efforts through volunteer involvement. • Assisting in connecting interested families with responsible breeders and trusted resources.
  • Maintaining an inclusive environment for all who share our love of Berners.

The Heartland Bernese Mountain Dog Club offers something for everyone — from newcomers discovering the breed to experienced fanciers continuing its legacy. We welcome all who share our passion for the Bernese Mountain Dog and our commitment to its future.
