The Heartland Bernese Mountain Dog Club was established in 1990 and has members in Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Our mission is to promote and protect the Bernese Mountain Dog, educate our members, and above all else, have fun with our dogs and other enthusiasts of our beautiful breed.
We have diverse interests and participate in a wide range of dog related activities. Our members show in conformation and obedience rings and we compete in agility, carting, draft, and herding trials. Some of our Berners are therapy dogs, too. Many of our dogs are Canine Good Citizens and companion dogs and their owners are very welcome.
The Heartland Bernese Mountain Dog Club actively sponsors Bernese Mountain Dog Rescue by helping transport, foster, rehabilitate and rehome Bernese Mountain Dogs. We also support Berner health studies and regional specialty events through our Ways and Means.
To join our club you don't have to do anything except love Bernese Mountain Dogs and be interested in meeting others with the same enthusiasm. You don't even need to own a Berner but if you are considering getting a Bernese Mountain Dog, joining the club is a good way to learn more about the breed and become acquainted with breeders in the region.
Meetings: Membership meetings are held three times annually within our club's area. We also have informal picnics and get-togethers in several areas where Berners and their families can have fun. In addition, the HBMDC sponsors clinics on various topics.
News and Events: We publish club news and events in our monthly edition of the Berner Briefs. We also publish regional news and links to the National BMDCA calendar on our web calendar where we also post information about HBMDC sponsored activities and others events that might interest Berner lovers.
We sincerely hope you, your family and dogs will attend one of our meetings or events and get to know our members. You do not need to be a member to attend. If you have any questions, please contact any of our current Board members listed on the web site.
Hope to see you soon.
